Each year, the second graders at our school put on a Valentine's Day Tea. They get to invite one special person, they decorate their classroom, they write a special letter, they memorize a poem that they've personally chosen (with no two poems alike). Then, they practiced. And they practiced. And they practiced.
Banany decided that she would like to invite dad to the tea because, "Mom, you're always at school." Note to self: cut down on volunteer hours and meeting Banany for lunch so my presence will be special again. J, of course, was happy to be the guest of honor. Banany's teacher asked me if I'd be willing to videotape the program, so I was able to see it too. You know, in an employee-kind-of-way.
The day of the program, Banany was nervous and excited. She had practiced so hard to learn her poem and recite it with expression. She was a little nervous to talk in front of people, but couldn't wait for the tea to start! It was a fun day and she did such a great job. She spoke with confidence and looked so sweet. We were very proud of her!

Wow I would have been very nervous to do all of that. Way to go Banany. That was very sweet to invite you dad to your tea. I be that was the first tea he has ever been to. I'd like to hear the poem you memorized sometime
