Vacation Part VI: More Exploring

We wrapped up our only full day up north by heading to a nearby waterfall and river. After a short hike through the woods, we were at the waterfall with plenty of rocks just waiting to be thrown. The kids enjoyed seeing the fast flowing river, climbing on rocks, watching the waterfall, and throwing rocks and sticks in. We were up fairly high, walking on uneven rocks...mom was a bit nervous with two little ones...each child's hand was held onto quite tightly!

One strange thing was the variation in temperature. When we left the resort, it was in the low 80's and a little humid. However, less than 10 miles away, but right on the river and the lake, it had dropped nearly 20 degrees and we were actually cold! The kids and I had to change out of our shorts into pants and I swiped Dad's jacket. Just minutes before, we were all sweating with the a/c on!
Our day ended with a trip to the little resort gift shop for some ice cream. Being the off season, again our choices were a little limited...one scoop or two scoops...of vanilla. Good thing the grown-ups had a full stash of treats back at our place!
