Big Race Day

On Saturday, J and Uncle B ran a four mile race in town, which is part of some annual week long festivities. They ran it last year - Uncle B came in ahead of J.

J's had a whole year to stew about it and train to beat Uncle B.

It was a beautiful morning...a little on the warm side for the runners...but early enough to beat the scorching heat the would come later. My sister and I loaded up the kids and our parents joined us to watch the showdown.

The day before race day - making signs.

The runners getting ready.
J and Uncle B are the two big guys in white shirts and black shorts.
Do you think they planned that?

We found a great place in the shade to watch the start of the race.

And they're off! Uncle B went out very fast...uh-oh.

Nana (peeking), Cousin M and Banany waiting for the dads to cross the finish line.

Thank goodness for the awesome shade.
We just parked ourselves right in front of the finish line.

J finished first this year - in under 30 minutes, no less.
Way to go, J!

Uncle B finishing - he was hobbling a bit on an ankle that's been bugging him.
Nice job, Uncle B!

Banany congratulating J on a job well done.
